July 16 - July 23
Monday: For Pday we went to the edge of the world AKA we went to some big rock that overlooks the ocean for district activity and just had some good ol' fashion communication. For dinner a member gave us a gift card for Marie Calendars. While we were there, another member saw us and paid for our dinner without us knowing. So now we have our gift cards...#pie4days! Then we had a lesson and picked up a "new" investigator! YAY! π All in all - pretty solid Pday! OH! And I got to "go shopping" with my mom! Well, she sent me pics over email π, but still #qualitytime.
Tuesday: Today we had planned for a whole bunch of fun stuff but we did basically nothing on our list. I guess the spirit had other plans for how our day would go. - We started out our day with studies and learning how to work with members. Then we were going to go do service for a returning member, but....she canceled. So we went and knocked/walked around. We visited a members home and she gave us 2 referrals, one non member, on less active. We visited the non member, he wasn't home but the wife wasn't interested. Then we visit the less active and she wasn't home either. So we walked more, then dinner where they also gave us 2 more people to visit! They also gave us a bunch of cake to take home but we figured we'd be nice and give it to the Elders. When we got there they were practicing how to ask the father if they could date his daughter...FUNNIEST thing I have ever walked up to. (apparently, the elder going home in 4 weeks was/is super nervous about that since he hasn't done it in 2 year, LOL!)
Wednesday: Today was super fun! We did 3 hours of service with the Elders in our district. We weeded and cut down bushes and got to give a pig a bath. It was super duper fun! We came home changed, and did our studies. Then went and met this sweet old couple who told us story after story. They kept teasing each other and joking around with one another It was super cute! We were over there for quite a while, haha. Then we had dinner and it was mexican, yum. We walked around after dinner and saw a mannequin on the grass, so naturally, we stared at it for a second. Then a lady came outside and we talked for a bit and then she showed us clothes that she was selling from a place called lu la rue. IT WAS SO CUTE!!! And basically everything met our missionary standard for dress code.
Thursday: Today we had weekly planning. We had a lesson with our investigator, Daniel, and taught him the plan of salvation...and...Set him with a baptism date! YAY!!
Friday: Wow...1year ago today I decided that I wanted to go on a mission. And what a roller coaster it has been! Today we had district meeting and I had to lead a discussion on "How to become confident missionary" I feel they asked the wrong person to lead that! LOL but luckily with the spirit by my side I made it through the 30 minute discussion! We then visited some people and had dinner with our ward mission leader at a mexican restaurant called Olas. It was really good! We met a kid named Riley thats interested in hearing our message! YAY!
Saturday: Today was good, we had interviews with our mission president. President Nakken and it was really cool to get to know him and his wife more! They are such wonderful people! We also had dinner at the Tao home, for dinner they smoked brisket for 12 hours! WOW! For our dinner message we did "The Restoration Cup Song" We'd never done it for anyone before and it actually worked out! YAY! After, there was a HUGE Justin Timberlake impersonation concert by the church. So we decided to try and talk to the people who were parking at the church. I mean come on, they park for free at the church, might as well try and find investigators there. π The elders were at the church working on something and talked with us for a few minutes then took us on a "Cube Journey" it was weird, but cook I guess. LOL.
Sunday: Church! It was really good! As usual the talks today were on repentance, the atonement and having a Christ centered life.
